Turn Key Refit Battery Hybrid Solution for OSV

KONGSBERG receives first DNV GL cyber security type approval for its K-IMS system

Cyber security assessment

For the past year, DNV GL and KONGSBERG have combined their efforts to develop a new type approval programme for the cyber security assessment of control system components: “Security Assessment of Control System Components, DNVGL-CP-0231”. The pilot system has been K-IMS, a core component in KONGSBERG’s digital ecosystem Kognifai. Designed in accordance with the principles in IEC 62443-4-2 and IEC 61162-460, the type approval programme focuses on verifying both the technical reliability and cyber security of control systems.

SEACOR Marine Chooses KONGSBERG for Platform Supply Vessel Hybrid Power and DP Upgrade

KONGSBERG has received an order to deliver unique ‘Full Picture’ technology upgrades for a further three Platform Supply Vessels (PSV) owned by Mantenimiento Express Marítimo SAPI de CV (“MEXMAR”), SEACOR Marine’s joint venture in Mexico. The contract follows the September 2017 contract for the same ground-breaking upgrade package on the SEACOR Maya PSV, which was an important step taken by MEXMAR towards meeting the increasing industry demand to reduce the environmental footprint of offshore operations.

Managing Complexity
The demands of a vessel refit can often rival the complexity of a newbuild – especially on projects that require specialised work and tight deadlines. To better understand these challenges, Kongsberg Maritime begins each process with a Life Cycle Analysis, a detailed review of the technical aspects of any project.

Remote Training

Kongsberg Maritime is now offering training live to virtually any location with a computer and Internet connection. The remote training technology allows for setting up virtual classrooms, where we include live transfer of; 
  • Instructor live video and sound
  • On-screen presentations (i.e. PowerPoint and other presentation tools)
  • Demonstrations and instruction in actual Kongsberg Maritime application software
  • Discussions and interaction between course participants ad with the instructor
The virtual classroom solution is a complete and integrated remote training that enables our instructors to conduct live sessions with course participants. By teaching and assessing knowledge and competence levels, to the solution will reduce time needed at training centres, which can save customers both time and money.

KM Greece Open House

KM Hellas SA successfully arranged an Open House for Greek Shipping customers on 31st October. Guest list included customers within Seaborne Transportation sector, consulting companies, and class companies. Norwegian Embassy representative was present and delivered a speech. Customer product presentations was arranged in the three training rooms. Each session lasted 30 minutes and was repeated three times during the evening.

Morten Stanger presented the topic Energy Solutions – Hybrid and Gas Fuel System; Bent Erik Bjørkli and Matt Duke spoke about Digitalization Enabling Efficiency of Maritime Operations; Simen Ringstad and Carl Magne Rustand gave a presentation on Customer Support and Services. As hosts, KM Hellas was most pleased with the number of guests joined, more than 100 customers and partners had visited the office this evening. A big thanks to everybody who participated to this successful arrangement.
