Marine Robotics Drives Innovations in Autonomy
This month, we proudly introduces the K-MATE autonomous surface vehicle control system; you can see autonomous collision avoidance in operation in the video below. The exciting use of K-MATE on the SEA-KIT USV demonstrates our belief in the vision from the General Bathymetric Chart of the Oceans and the Nippon Foundation to accurately and cost effectively map the world’s ocean floors by 2030.
Don’t miss this month's stories on underwater mapping made easy, nor the application note on the Kongsberg Maritime Tsunami Warning System.

Best regards

EM 2040P utilised on E/V Nautilus
Researchers from University of New Hampshire Center for Coastal and Ocean Mapping took part in a cruise aboard E/V Nautilus to map ancient shorelines within the Channel Islands National Marine Sanctuary (CINMS). Using a KONGSBERG EM 2040P multibeam echo sounder mounted on an ASV, the team surveyed the seafloor along the edge of the islands coming within meters of steep cliffs.

UiT K-Lander Recovered

Two K-Lander Systems owned by CAGE (UiT) were recovered from the Barents Sea offshore Svalbard in July and August. Both systems were deployed in October 2016 to collect crucial data to increase the understanding of natural seabed methane release in respect to the seasonal sea ice influence on this area.
